Nicora Gangi - Burning Bush

Burning Bush

Pastels
19.5 x 16 x 1.5 in

Framed

The gold lines on the silver plate behind the bird illustrate the ancient story, from the book of Exodus, of Moses being commanded by God, out of a burning bush, to go to Egypt and announce to the pharaoh to 'Let My People Go". I have placed the blue bird onto edge of the bowl looking out at the viewer as a symbol of anticipation as well as confirmation of this event. The only whole egg is 'protected' in the bowl alluding to the protection of God over His chosen people who have been broken by the weight of slavery up until 'the burning bush'. (thus the broken egg shells on the plate below)The silver spoon in the bowl projecting out alludes to service---Moses will serve God's people.
